These are the people that shape my heart. They inspire me to meet others with compassion, presence, and care—especially in life’s hardest moments.
(Notice the light "Angel Orb" going across the bottom of our family picture... Dad was there that day, as he is always watching over all of his entire family - watching, protecting and loving.)
To honor my dad/ his grandpa, my son and I each chose a tattoo with personal meaning. My son wears his birthdate in Roman numerals, and I wear his signature—my maiden name. It is just one way that we can carry him with us each day.
I am a wife and a mother of three, and at the heart of everything I do is a deep passion for caring for others and creating space for people to feel seen, heard, and supported.
My professional journey began in education, where I served as a Kindergarten teacher and later as an Elementary and Secondary Guidance Counselor. In these roles, I walked alongside children, adolescents, and families through seasons of growth, transition, and challenge. Over time, I came to understand how profoundly life’s changes — and losses — shape who we are, quietly teaching us, refining us, and transforming the way we move through the world.
This work became deeply personal after losing my dad in 2023 following a 19-year battle with Multiple Sclerosis. As his illness progressed, there were several times we came close to losing him. I found myself grieving my dad before he was gone. Perhaps my heart was preparing for what was coming, or perhaps it was simply the weight of emotions I didn’t yet know how to hold.
Watching him endure the challenges of his illness brought a quiet, ongoing sorrow — but nothing can truly prepare us for the moment a loved one leaves this world. As my sisters and I told him how much we loved him and assured him he didn’t have to keep being strong for us, one single tear slipped from the corner of his eye. It is a moment my sisters and I will carry with us always.
We are now moving into our third year without him. I know every story of loss is different, but I have come to believe this: grief ripples through the days, months, and years that follow. And compassionate support matters.
My personal experience led me to create Grieving With Grace — a space where grief is honored, stories are shared, and healing unfolds at a gentle, intentional pace. As a grief life coach, I offer non-clinical, one-on-one and group support for individuals navigating loss, change, and transition. My approach is grounded in deep listening, thoughtful reflection, and steady guidance — helping you process grief in your own time, rediscover meaning, and carry forward the love and legacy that remain.
It is a privilege to walk alongside those who are grieving, offering support rooted in compassion, understanding, and hope.
You talk. I'll listen.
my heart is yours,
melissa
